Boottocht naar de Leones Gletsjer

After early breakfast we will leave the resort by van or by boat to the river Los Leones from where we will enter the Leones valley and get as far as possible before leaving the van/boat and go on by foot. We will follow our way through a huge glacier valley until reaching Lake Leones from where we have a spectacular view on the 3 glaciers that come together at the far end of the lake.

After enjoying our box lunch we will hike around exploring the pristine surroundings. On request and if the weather allows for it we can cross the lake by boat to the foot of the glaciers.

At around 16.00 hours we will head back home. (Full day, medium/high level).

This tour can also be done on horseback (full day, medium/high level).

Loop over de Exploradores Gletsjer

After early breakfast we will leave to Puerto Tranquilo. From there we will take the recently opened road that leads to the Pacific coast (last 20km not finished yet). After 50km we arrive at the site were our trekking to the Exploradores Glacier starts. It will take us about half an hour to arrive at the basis of the Glacier and another hour to reach the white ice where we will clip the ice gears to our boots so we can safely walk on the ice. Under guidance of an experienced guide we will make a spectacular tour on the glacier. The touch of the ice, the view, the glaciers around us, unforgettable impressions! During the tour we will enjoy our box lunch. After about 4-5 hours walk on the Glacier it will take another hour to get back to van from where we will head back to El Mirador de Playa Guadal. (Full day, medium level).

Boottocht Costa Carrera

During this excursion we will make a trip by boat around the most beautiful parts of Lake Carrera. First we will head to the “Desagüe” of the Lake. Here Lake Carrera joins Lake Bertrand and one has a great view on the Bertrand Glaciers. From there we will pass along the northern side of Lake Carrera with impressive views on the San Valentin Glacier, the highest peak of the southern Andes (4058m). Passing the Leones River we will arrive at the Marble Chapels, an intriguing geological formation of caves formed by an island of marble polished by the turquoise colored water of the lake. After visiting the caves we will cross the lake and arrive at one of the nicest beaches of the area. From here one has a spectacular panoramic view over the lake with all glaciers right in front. Getting back to the resort will take us only 20 minutes from here. (Half day, easy level).

Op zoek naar fossielen

After breakfast we will leave by van to the High Lands at about one hour from the resort. From there we will start our trekking up hill through ancient Lenga forests with spectacular views on Lake general Carrera and the Contreras Mountain Range with its Glaciers. After about an hour and a half we reach the Veranadas, the plateaus where in summer time cattle grasses. From here we go further uphill (half an hour) until we reach the rocks with the petrified sea shelves. It is difficult to imagine that in ancient times this area was part of the Pacific Ocean. We will take our refreshments and enjoy the wide view before turning back to the car. (Full day, easy/medium level).
